It has been reported that Michael Mann wants Christian Bale for a title character opposite DiCaprio for the next film “Heat 2”.
Which is based on the New York best-selling novel, written by Michael Mann and Meg Gardiner. He has penned the script already, and the film is to begin production early next year.
The story isn’t just a sequel, but a prequel. Taking the audience through the events that happened after the guest went bad, following Shiherlis as he tries to evade the LAPD and Hanna following the bank robbery. Taking us to new territory in the tri-border zone and Southeast Asia.
While the second half is a look at their lives prior to this, their origin story, so to speak. Leading up to the events that happened in “Heat”.
If done correctly and pulled off just right, “Heat 2” could just put high-stakes heist films back on top.
With a cast like this, Mann has the star power and talent to make a film as iconic as the original.
